Excellent tool looks like it does a great job.... I have just started doing some tree climbing and am having some trouble getting the throw line over those limbs. This device you are using looks GREAT. I would love to have one. Can a person buy this some were or did you make it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It does do a good job, if I do say so myself. I recently was over at Bruce Smith's (owner - On Rope 1) house helping take down a dead tree. I had two young men helping and let them shoot the line. We had three shots and three hits, the last one was pretty high.
This is my on design and I built it in my shop. It takes quite a bit of time to machine everything and I haven't looked into any kind of commercialization of it.
Excellent device...good job. Re: safety..at the 3:27 mark your grandson is working with the throw line while you and your gr.daughter are preparing to shoot...he happened to get through and drop the line before she shot. If she had shot while he was holding the line it could at least strip the meat off the finger, if not the finger. Also, it would be safer to have the Big Shot forks on the underside of the gizmo...if the rubbers break you don't get zapped in the face..wear safety glasses.
Actually they're my neighbor's grandchildren - they always want me to come out and play.
Yep, although I was trying to keep a close eye on him, sometimes Carter manages to 'get away' from you.
The forks up point comes up from time to time, but there are two of these devices and they have over a thousand rounds between them.
I inspect the tubing, under stress, before each use. And yes safety glass would be good. I didn't have any that would fit him so it was either shoot or not.
