73% of the American people agree that with appropriate safeguards to protect the environment, we should drill for oil off America's coasts to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

  • These outrageous oil prices could have been avoided IF Clinton would have signed a bill allowing offshore drilling back in the 90's. We'd be better off, more secure, and more independent... Wish he would have had the foresight...

  • Well, that's interesting... If "73% of Americans support bombing of American cities, as long as it's not theirs" does that mean US-based companies (or the military - or both) should DO it? If offshore drilling would prolong the petroleum supply for thousands or even hundreds of years, perhaps it might make sense, but prolonging it for inefficient furnaces for 50 years (and delaying the search for alternative sources of energy and saving the oil for REAL needs) is EXTREME short-term thinking.

  • @jaygodch:

    Any regrets?

  • There isn't any inexpensive oil alternative available and it won't be for at least a decade. In the meantime, only a FOOL would rely on foreign enemies to supply much of our oil.

Just the suggestion of drilling oil brings the gas price down.

The enviromental liberal wackos have created this strain on the household budget.

If you vote for obama, you might as well kiss your future good bye.

Please use your minds and refuse to be lied to and screwed over.

  • Drilling for oil in America is shortsighted, prolonging the inevitable, and adding to the already catastrophic impact oil use is having on the global environment. Experts agree, we have already surpassed the peak oil mark, and worldwide supply is now in the decline. People need to face the facts and realize the common way of life is unsustainable, and will need radical changes if we are to survive the coming crisis. See "End of Suburbia: Oil Depletion and the Collapse of the American Dream"

  • FOX news is full of shit.

  • Can Someone Please explain to me WHY the oil companies would drill more and lower the price of oil? What's their incentive to "drill baby drill"? Their profits are the highest ever now, why would they lower them?

And even if they did, Why would they sell the oil just to us? it's a world market to the highest bidder, we can't stop importing oil unless we MAKE them only sell to us.

they need COMPETITION from ALTERNATIVE FUELS and RENEWABLE ENERGY

  • Even if we open another 1000 oil rigs and completely get off foreign oil the follow remains true.

The cost of oil will triple as China and other countries move people into middle class. THE US CANNOT STOP THIS

Global oil costs will still be in the hands of those who have most of it...Saudi Arabia.

Europeans are excluding oil as a source of energy. Therefor they could care less about the cost of OIL.

Who would want to keep using a volatile product like oil as their main energy source, who?

  • your lost. thats not the case you cant use more that you produce and expect it to grow more.you really need to do some homework. YOUR FACTS ARE FLAWED

  • give me a break. you dont know what your talking about.

  • its bullshit just like you think it is. 73% of americans, ha ask around. its not even close to 73%
