C280-16 Startup

Cat C280-16 diesel engine startup. Engine is a V16 generator set, 7500 HP.

Engine autostart testing in a new installation. Engine was remotely started, ramped up to 900 RPM (full speed) and generator breaker closed.

Engine has dual starting motors. They are TDI "turbotwin" air turbine motors.

@cbman96 It has two starters. They are Tech Development (TDI) air turbine starters, model T100V. You can look them up online and see pictures. They are actually amazingly small and lightweight, because there's no windings or heavy iron magnetic cores. It's just a gear head with a couple aluminum turbine rotors.
