Ragda Patties

Ragada is a non-masala white/yellow whole peas tasty curry topped on Potato patty and garnished with tangy sauces called chutney. Another snack that makes an easy transition to a one-dish meal. Piping hot and exploding with flavor...

Time: 30 min
Skill: Easy
Serves: 4 as side dish or 2 as main dish
Shelf Life: No
One can store in refrigerator for 2-3 days

Ingredients for Ragda:
1 Cup Vatana/White or Yellow Peas (soaked for 12 hrs and rinsed)
1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
3 Tbsp Cilantro
2 Tbsp Mint
2 Cloves of Garlic
1-Inch Ginger
5 Green Chilies (Optional)
1 Tbsp+1 Tsp Oil
1 Tsp Mustard seeds
1 Tsp Cumin seeds
Salt to taste
½ Tsp Cumin Powder

Ingredients for Patties:
5 medium size potatoes (boiled)*
2 Bread slice
2 Cloves of Garlic
1-Inch Ginger
4 Green Chilies (Optional)
1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
Oil as needed for shallow fry + 1 Tsp
Salt to taste

Ingredients for Garnish:
1 Minced Onion
1 Minced Tomato
Green Chutney**
Sweet Chutney***
Sev (Fried Indian snack)****

* Do not over boil potatoes... they should be firm and cooked
**Green Chutney can make at home or available in Indian specialty store
***Sweet Chutney can make at home or available in Indian specialty store or substitute with apple butter
****Sev is a fried snack made from split yellow peas flour... large verity is available in Indian specialty store

    I saw u used Magic bullet blender. I am thinking of buying it but i ve read very bad and equally good reviews about it so now i am confused. Plz can you tell me your experience with using it for indian cooking? How long have u been using it (years/months)? Did the plastic base break ever? Is it good for grinding small quantities of chutneys, masala, spices etc. Plz let me know. Thanks in advance.
