The film did not meet its anticipated success with critics, but it fared better worldwide, to spawn an animated sequel called Godzilla: The Series. The film was released on May 20, 1998 by TriStar Pictures.

i have this soundtrack still from back in the day. as a kid growing up watching godzilla when i heard that a new godzilla movie was coming out i almost shit my pants. there will never be such a icon in movies like godzilla. 50 years from now godzilla will still be kicking ass ROAR !!!!

So ironic that they remade Godzilla even though Godzilla already had a good special effects remake in 1985 and it was still making sequels with better special effects when Hollywood thought they needed to remake it.

The world is going to end in 2012 because they're going to make another Godzilla movie, and this one is going to be too epic for anything in existance to see without being completely obliviated.
