A photograph of a red shouldered hawk at Corkscrew helped me identify the one in my back yard. So glad I came across this here!

It was a Panasonic (now a bit unreliable!) with a 17X optical zoom on a fairly sturdy tripod. The hawk sat totally unconcerned about 15 yards away. I don't think any hawk would be that fearless in the UK!!

What did you use to shoot this? Came out great on my comp. I wish I could get them that close when i shoot them.

Lucky you! The only raptors to actually land or perch in our back yard in southern England are Eurasian Sparrowhawks looking for Wood Pigeons, Collared Doves or smaller birds.

Corkscrew Swamp is a great place for birders, as your video proves. Thanks!
