An examination of what the Dead Sea Scrolls tell us about Mormonism.

The Guide to the Scriptures describes the Joseph Smith Translation as the following:

"The Joseph Smith Translation has restored some of the plain and precious things that have been lost from the Bible (1 Ne. 13). Although it is not the official Bible of the Church, this translation does offer many interesting insights and is very valuable in understanding the Bible. It is also a witness for the divine calling and ministry of the Prophet Joseph Smith."

"And no God does not fail to accomplish his purposes"

Mormonism teaches that God did fail to accomplish his purpose many times. Even Jesus Christ (according to Mormonism) failed at establishing his church on earth and The Gospel of Jesus Christ was lost in the great apostasy. The premise to Mormonism is that what Jesus Christ (aka God) did was not good enough therefore we need more prophets like Joseph Smith & Thomas Monson to finish the job for God. Mormonism is an insult to God.

"All the changes made to the bom... has been... spelling and grammatical errors as well as... chapters and verses."

You are wrong... In Mosiah 21:28, The name Benjamin was changed to Mosiah in the text because King Benjamin was dead at the time that the Book of Mormon claimed he was still alive. This is just one example of the Book of Mormon text being changed to cover up its errors. The doctrine of the Trinity was edited out once Joseph Smith received a revelation to the contrary.

  • @isthechurchtrue this is the Christ he taught and the Christ we worship. The living Christ, the risen lord, the word who was with God, God of the old testament, savior of the new, the greatest of all the intelligences, the same who will come again in great glory to redeem the saints who are persecuted for his name, for he is the gate keeper and there is no other way to the father but by him and no other name under heaven whereby man can be saved.

  • @isthechurchtrue can you say all other prophets before him were perfect and made no mistakes? No they all were men, entrusted with a Godly mission. Josephs was to restore the gospel in the final dispensation of times

  • @isthechurchtrue these changes have been corrected and as Joseph stated in the beginning if there were mistakes that they were the errors of men and not of God.

  • @isthechurchtrue LDS teach apostasy. Theres a difference when God gives truth to his children and they fall away or reject it. When widespread rejection and wickedness takes hold over the people and there hearts are so hardened against God and his prophets, God has no choice but to withdraw it until later generations or those his judgements fall upon are humble enough to heed his words. Eg, noahs ark, babylon taking israel captive, destruction of jerusalem, rejection of Christ and his church

  • @Newmacker

The Christ that Joseph Smith taught was not the correct Christ. Just because you use the name "Christ" does not make you Christian or a follower of Christ. For example if the Anti-Christ came & said he was Christ then the Anti-Christ's followers would be Christians by Mormon thinking. The True Christ is almighty God, sovereign & uncreated. The Mormon Christ was created through Celestial sex by his father which is a greater God than Christ is. There are many more difference.

  • @RPM11111 okay...and you know he was lead by demons? Why then would he 'create' a book to testify to the world that jesus is the christ? Command everyone to repent, teach exact obedience to Gods commandments, point everyone towards celestial glory, etc. And no God does not fail to accomplish his purposes, though you criticise his chosen servants in there weaknesses, what about the mote in your eye? Eph 1:10 same gospel just more given from previous dispensations.

  • @Newmacker

He was led by demonic occult influences - hence the antibiblical doctrine and attack on the veracity of the Bible. Read Isaiah 55:11 - GOD does not fail in bringing forth HIS Word to accomplish that which HE pleases. Also, see comments above. Get out of Mormonism and call on the name of Jesus Christ. Not the Mormon jesus - he is another Jesus. Not the Mormon gospel - that is another gospel. Read Gal 1:6-9 and 2 Cor 11:3-4 in the Bible. You're the apostate if you stay in LDS church.

There is undeniable evidence to prove that Indians and Israelites are NOT related - see DNA vs the Book of Mormon. The "quotes from Isaiah" are referred to as "copy". There are many great rivers and waters - a reference to such in a book, does not make the entire faith promulgated by that book true. Most societies are divided into "civilized" and "uncivilized" - it's called "class". Urim & thummim?? See comment about copy above. Joseph Smith etc should be done for Plagiarism.

  • @alkimst13 mocker of lds beliefs it would appear to be??? Get a life! Or contribute meaningful comments instead of coming up with this worthless nonsense I suppose that gaping hole between your ears is filled with
