cream cheese frosting, and decoration of a red velvet cake.

RECIPE:
30g butter softened
80g softened cream cheese (light is acceptable too)
1 1/2 cups icing sugar

beat butter and cheese in a small bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, gradually beat in sifted icing sugar.

* for a citrus flabour, beat 2tsp of finely grated orange, lemon or lime rind with the butter and cream cheese.

this frosting is perfect for red velvet cake, just like the traditional southern red velvet cake calls for. It is also perfect for carrot and banana cakes.

  • Can't find cream cheese anywhere. :( What brand did you use?

  • @MyPandaboo I use Philadelphia cream cheese the one in a baking block not the spreadable one. good luck!

  • how did you get your frosting so thick? mine always turns out runny!

  • @lesterluvsu adding some extra icing sugar will thicken it up. make sure all your proportions are right too, and using a light type of cream cheese, as in less fat, makes it much runnier, its very hard to use that one for frosting! hope i could help!

  • ur voice is so low!!!!

  • @raghad866 low as in deep, or low as in quiet?
