Steve Jurvetson, of venture capital group Draper Fisher Jurvetson, says that user-generated content is more important than centralized media. Jurvetson also sees the rising popularity of real-time search (a la Twitter) trumping that of Google's web crawling and indexing method.

  • tottally agree, it seems the focus is always on how companies can take "advantage" of user generated content instead of tips for users to better themselves.

  • The focus of this talk seemed to be on marketing and how the web can best be monetized. It's important for making money, but equally important is how truly interesting human experiences can be effectively exchanged. Perhaps users should be tutored on how to present themselves and when to post information globally and also when to communicate on a more personal level. My feeling is that most communication should be person to person and only occasionally broadcast widely.

  • I like Steve, he's a sharp guy and talks sense, but ultimately he talks the obvious, synergy, disruptive technologies, cross pollination, thinking at the edge... it's those ideas that are difficult!

  • Nothing too enlightening here!

For decades everyone has known, (or should have known), the importance of "WEB Content"

Everyone knows people want to hear themselves talk, so you just give them a forum to sound off to enhance Web Content

    DUH!
