Urban micro-gardening. No help will be coming from Washington when there is trouble. Help yourselves, help your neighbors.

  • Find out what wild eatables grow in your area and plant them all around your yard. When the SHTF you will have food but it will look to most like you have a weedy yard. For info on wild eatables watch the eat the weeds videos and many more like them and try a field manual meant for use in your region of the world. Weeds can be quite nutritious.

  • @FrugalMummy yes! There are a lot more nutrients in sprouted grains. Also you can buy huge bags of wheat berries for very little money at feed stores.

  • @TheGloru2009 true

  • @n2488 I can see where some might do it in order to be independent of assistance or oversight by a government, but there are also personal reasons for self sufficiency. The satisfaction of growing your own food and learning from the process.

  • @TheGloru2009 to explain why its necessary to be self sufficient

  • Why'd you have to throw politics into it?

  • Some of these comments are helpful, thankyou for sharing, helpful advice. Does anyone else think sprouts and a sprouting jar are a good idea to boost vitamins etc?

  • Your chin is a little cancerous...

  • you're an idiot

  • @shovland You've got the right idea going, but you've got a lot of lettuce here, and there's not much nutritional value in it when you really get down to it. Try looking into tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkins, etc, most of which can grow in pots if properly managed. You will also want to look into heirloom seeds, and saving seeds. if shit hits the fan and you're left to grow your own food, you're going to want to be secure in the knowledge that you can do that without outside resources.
