Rainbow - 'Geoffrey Learns French' (part 1)

Zippy and George hear the song 'Frere Jacques' on the radio. Zippy can't understand the lyrics to the song, but George thinks they're about a furry jacket! Geoffrey explains that it is a French song and how people in France speak a different language to in the UK. Later, when the post arrives Geoffrey receives a letter from France from his friend Michelle. Michelle is coming to England to visit the Rainbow House, so Geoffrey brushes up on his French and also teaches Bungle, Zippy and George some words in French. Then they decide to practice how they are going to welcome Michelle when she arrives, with Bungle pretending he's Michelle. Then they all sing 'Frere Jacques' together.

Is Jeffrey dead now ? what was his full name and was he on anything else?

His full name is Geoffrey Hayes and is still alive. Before he presented Rainbow (from 1973 till 1991) I believe Geoffrey was in the BBC police drama series Z Cars for a few years in the early '70s. He has also made a number of guest appearances on various shows over the years and last year did a commercial for 'Monster Munch' (it's here on youtube somewhere).

when i was 5 zippy was my favorite charachter i remember ariving home from primary school and dashing to the tv to wach this and im now 30 yikes i feel old lol thanx for uploading this i was made up waching it my 5 yr old daughter has video tapes that i kept from a child and they still play some of them were still in there wrapping foil lol xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
