I came across a stand of shagbark hickory trees and, since Autumn is on its way, I decided to put together a vid on how to ID them and harvest them. Do a quick Google search on "Hickory nut recipe" and you'll find tons of ideas on how to use these. They're also great in fall camp if you have the time to add some to a dish. Hope you enjoy! (Again, bear with me on the vid quality...)

This is nice, I remember being a very little girl in Rye, TX standing on Grandpa's porch while he cracked and fed these to me.

Where abouts did you find those hickory trees? Are you in the US or Canada? Thanks for the video!

That was fantastic! That really does help so much! I had a hickory nut once and it was delicious! But I had to harvest it and eat it crumb by crumb because I couldn't get it out right lol!

Thanks for the good info. It helped a lot.
Husking was soooo easy once you showed the way. Not at all like walnuts.
I opened one up the other day and the nutmeat was like a goo... Did I open it too soon?
