An interview with James McCarthy, the Head of Clinical Tropical Medicine at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research. This interview is about the anti-malarial drug mefloquine (with retails as Lariam), and how the Australian Defence Force has approached malaria prevention.
@MuuzikFan Ooops, I meant parasite, nevertheless, any infectious agent can spread and attack the cerebral system..

Besides, malaria is not the only bacteria that can spread to being cerebrail, specially in tropical countries!!

@MuuzikFan Most who suffered CNS side effects from Lariam did NOT suffer from underlying neuro/mental illness.

@MuuzikFan Kudos to Johin Black, paediatrician who suggests this drug was not properly investigated for side effects and that it should be withdrawn, as did Halofan, after causing terrible side effects for many years.

What nonesense!! Adverse reactions are rated at 40% and even more according to a published Danish paper. Furthermore, many who took Lariam, contacted malaria!!

Hi fun guy. I took it for 12 months. vivid dreams where i could almost see hear smell taste and control my actions while asleep... the vividness applies to good and horrid dreams. Deja vu... paranoia(thanks, now I know what that means)... broken sleep... poor concentration(almost like laziness but as if a switch flips in the middle of my thought process)... and an almost compulsive desire to kill myself... Most have faded, but the poor sleep, concentration and irrational suicidal desires remain.
