This was my families summer vacation spot when I was a kid back in the mid 60's & early 70's, love it! I wish they would clean it up and make it a resort like it was back then. Great memories!

Finally some truth about the sea! Fuck the mainstream media and it's lies about the sea! Viva the Salton Sea!

The gentleman is only partly correct as to the origins of the Salton Sea. The more important connection is the irrigation channels that overflowed in 1905 creating the Sea.

Also, another important factor is that the entire area is a depression; it's below sea level. It was a lake in the past, during the Pleistocene, with entire communities of Indians living along its shores. The shorelines can be seen in various locations, particularly along the base of the Santa Rosa Mts.
