Video Ripoff Prevention - Add Watermarks to your videos

An example of what happened to me along with a demonstration to make it more difficult (although not impossible) for someone to steal your videos and present them as their own content or misrepresent your video for selling some other product without your permission.

This video was composed in Cinelerra running in Debian Linux.

The static watermark was created using Gimp.

Sorry for the remake. I looked at my last video posting and came to the conclusion that I was infringing on the Copyright of Blue Oyster Cult by using too much of the Don't Fear the Reaper track (was not muted enough during the main video). Now I only am using the first 20 seconds of that clip at the intro and closing credits screens. My apologies to Blue Oyster Cult.

I suppose the best thing to do would be to embed some spyware in the video. Could catch them red handed. But then again, what good would that do when they're half way around the world?

all you have to do is use an alpha channel with your image

Same thing happened to me.

I had a guy in Conn. asking me to build him a custom water bed. When I got back to florida, I designed it assembly form in 3D.

I was suspicious of him right from the start.

He confirmed my suspicion when asking me key design / assembly questions which I did not answer!

You probably won't be able to do this the way I do because I use Cinelerra in Linux.

But....

All you need is a video editing program that can do chroma key (like the weather guy on TV)

I made a simple image with my logo and and painted the rest of the background green.

This is layered on top of my video and every thing "green" in the top layer is converted transparent.

Try searching YouTube for "how-to watermark" or "how-to watermark video" for some other ideas how to do it.

same thing happen to me but i reported right away to youtube and now i dont see that video ever again
