Vladimir Horowitz premiered this transciption of Danse Macabre on Sunday, January 18th, 1942, at "Orchestra Hall" in Chicago. In the same recital Horowitz also gave the first Chicago performance of the newly composed Prokofiev Sonata no. 6 Op. 82.

As incredible as this is, I love the original orchestral Danse Macabre too much to enjoy this as thoroughly as I ought to - I wish it'd kept closer to the original.
