Benny Wenda, a West Papuan independence leader, questions Rio Tinto regarding its conduct at the Grasberg Mine, in his home country. Rio Tinto has ruined a whole river system, destroyed a sacred mountain and disrupted the lives of thousands of villagers in the area. In 2008, the Government of Norway's pension fund (one of Rio Tinto's largest shareholders at the time) divested from Rio Tinto, citing the company's "grossly unethical" conduct at the Grasberg Mine.

You wouldn't think it by hearing CEO Tom Albanese's response in the video, who insists that the communities there are better off because of the Grasberg Mine!

  • is there anywhere on earth where there is no corruption and greed that leads to the big corporations taking over and killing us with poison in the air, water and food, and sometimes just outright killing people? We need a world wide revolution.

  • Yes, they should be hep accountable for their wrongdoing!!
