So I was westbound on I-4 after breakfast at Mickey D's when Mike Maiullari calls me on my cell phone and tips me on a S604 waiting to leave. Once we're at Kathleen, we get gas at a Publix branded station by CR582. Had I set up there, little did I know that I wouldn't wait as long as I thought. Moving south on Kathleen, a stroll took us to.....

CSXT 7612 (C40-8)
CSXT 8880 (SD40-2 Ex Conrail)
CSXT 7679 (C40-8W)
CSXT 5353 (ES40DC)
136 cars (Thanks, Ken. I lost count myself)

Then, I got to the show and hung around with the contributors to oneGFLUG, and a good skype buddy Michael Guilino (msts195). After that it was a run to Plant City and there was a damn lull and three sets of eyes, Michael, Matt (Railfan23) and I stared at the monitor till these trains lit up the screen. After that, that'd be it for the day. I missed four while at the show, but LEGO coverage knocks out a train any day as such displays are rarer. Look forward to a Dueling Yards video and a 'cabride' video on my brickbuilder711 channel soon.

The railfans I met up with were:
Aaron (CSXBOY187)
Amin (AmtrakSilverStar)
Ben (Caltrain927)
Brian of the SFRM
"Uncle" Joe of the ACL/SAL Hist. Society
Josh K. from Floridarailfan
Ken (kenjr29mfl)
Matt (Railfan23)
Michael (msts195)
Mike (was crblue91, no YouTube now though)
Paul Mathis
and then some!!!!

  • Surprised that I never took the time to comment on this. Nice video Tolga! Great to see a change of pace for once from the same old, same old of South Florida. There will be days like this where you won't see as many trains as you had envisioned, but you'll still be satisfied that you took the time to go as opposed to not going at all. I know originally that you were more focused on the train show anyway.

  • Thanks, Tim! I did not feel any regret for having gone up there, 4 trains or 10 trains... Like you said, the show was the cause of the trip, just as it was for our friends at the SFRM. I do have a ream of video to import from SFL, but I know anyday that it won't compare to Central FL.

  • I wish I lived closer to this area, I live in st lucie county, and love the rare times I do get out there Its fun to rail fan. expecially mulburry

  • Believe me, I wish I lived closer up there too. I live in the Miami area. Thanks for your comment.

  • Awesome Catches, 5*****! Q741 actually goes to Tampa, then sets out its cars on a local with different cars. I've seen that local come through Palmetto & Bradenton a few times.

  • @bitterman112 Thanks, Eric! I guess it's 823 or 708 that carries the cut down. I appreciate the fix.

  • Last tme I caught it, it ws O708 as told by conductor! But the loaded juice cars that leave the plant don't go back on O708. The mainline power that ws Q741 departs tampa & heads SB to Bradenton's juice plant, then he hooks to the loaded juice cars & thn IDs as Q740! I've seen that mnlne pwer hook up to thse cars before.

  • @SFLRailFan Thanks, Ted. Definitely better than that 2008 mess. :D

  • Very nice video, Tolga. Excellent camera handling skills. *****

  • Yeah, as if I have the known date 4 months in advance. :P
