Horrible Excessive Celebration Penalty Call: Pinstripe Bowl K-State and Syracuse

Tell me this wasn't a choke by the refs. Clearly you can see No. 1 Phillip Thomas from syracuse shove No. 82 Adrian Hilburn of K-State well after Hilburn crossed into the end zone, after the ref signaled a touchdown. Yet the Refs call an excessive celebration penalty on Hilburn for saluting the fans. If anything it should have been a penalty on both, which would offset one another. In reality though it should have been a personal foul penalty on Thomas for clearly shoving Hilburn at the end of the play in the back of the endzone

@trekkian88 ya soccer is so much better. Watching an entire game where nothing happens. Oh how the players flop and cry on the ground grabbing their leg even though the replay showed no contact. Ohhh how you are right. I just love how the European soccer games, the fans always rioting and the stands collapse and the people die cause Europe cant build a descent stadium. Oh if only food wasnt so plentiful here and we werent so rich, we would be just as skinny as you guys.

OK, there are bad calls, and then there are the worst calls in the history of the game. This is one of them.

It sounded like the ref had a beef with K State. A salute, excessive? I say it's one of the lighter celebrations I see nowadays. To me, it sounded like as soon as Hilburn scored, the ref was looking for ANYTHING he could flag him on. A shoddy performance by the people we trust to try to make the game fair and a very bitter end to K State's season.
