Bolt is technically correct in his English in saying that he is an "athlete" compared to swimmer Michael Phelps. If you've done track in high school/college, you'd know that track and field is also commonly referred to as "athletics". Those who do athletics are therefore athletes and those who swim are swimmers. And Bolt is an incredible athlete to say the least.
