This is a map rendered in Unity using some optimization techniques like occlusion culling and special collision geometry to render everything in real-time. It uses deferred rendering. This allows something between 100 and 200 real-time lights in this level.

  • Could you explain a littlebit about the making of such a level?

Did you create the entire thing at once in something like 3DSmax or are there programes specialized in such tasks?

  • @Maaarteh: I created models to render textures from them. After this I modelled decoration objects like columns, lights and door frames to create corridors. Then I made corridors. In Unity or UDK I assemble those elements to a map. The scene management (e.g. occlusion culling) can remove corridors that are not in view.

I used Modo for modelling, sculpting and 3d painting. It is just a better modeler and more affordable than 3ds max and tools for im- and export are a bit more reliable.

  • can u tell me what software u used to make that map?

  • @vanzan102: I used Modo to model textures and meshes and GIMP to post-work on textures.

  • Wow that was awesome. but I have a question; how did you get the realtime shadows? when I want it, the program tells me to buy pro but thats way to expensive for me, im young. did you buy the pro version?

  • @jillisn: Yes, I bought the pro version during a cheap pre-sales action. Besides that the weak dollar made it even better for me because I am from Europe.

  • @XxArkhamxAsylumxX Yes, it was created in Denmark(I believe), but the price is still in dollars so therefore if the dollar is weak so is the price for a European stand point.

  • perfect place for a fps game

  • can you design the chracters in the game

  • @MachineryFrank wasnt Unity was developed by Europeans. so the dollar being weak has little to do with the pricing

  • Just add some (really) simple dirt meshes on the corner so it have more atmosphere.

  • Wow! Very nice work man! Perfect for an FPS game too! Keep it up.

  • It's so hard to make a good looking game with the free version

  • Verry Nice. But i think it is à bit to grey
