This is one amazing mezzo voice! The pianist obviously knows nothing about spirituals... What? Is this some kind of "chopsticks" improvised accompaniment? John W. Work arranged the piece the way he wanted it played. The "riffs" are way over the top...WAY OVER THE TOP...c'mon y'all...get your pianists to do justice to the people's music!!!
Nonetheless, Miss Vaughn is still something absolutely special. Rich, luscious, vibrant voice. I hope to see and hear more of her in the future.
