This Hagler would of destroyed Lenard the dancing prince.
-
@kevindlinc I heard he was ambidextrous?
-
Agree with you but........Hagler DEFINITELY loses points for being a middle only fighter. ALL the other 3 moved up MANY divisions, Hagler did not so he is an all time great middleweight, but I'm not sure he's greater than Hearns,Leonard or Duran overall.

@ianbillen You are correct in that Hagler switched stances quite comfortably but he generally fought as a southpaw. Hagler is right handed though and the natural stance for a right hander is orthodox. Being a ''converted'' fighter means that your leading with your ''strength'' hand. This is the reason for Haglers battering ram of a jab. I' ll have to look into who early in his boxing career was influential regaurding this.

Hmmm but I thought Hagler was basically ambidextrous from early on? Thought it was mostly natural to him (thought that is what made him much more "gifted" than most fighters). didn't know he worked on converting his skills to Southpaw? Just curious...
-
@ianbillen Something that you don't hear much about is that Hagler was a 'converted'' southpaw thus his jab was exceptionally hard.Oscar Delehoya was a converted orthodox fighter Bruce Lee like Hagler was also a converted southpaw.

Yes. When Mugabi hit Hagler with that uppercut in round two and Hagler gave him a nod as in "good shot" Mugabi knew he could very well be in trouble bc that punch would of knocked out many others and Hagler's legs didn't even flinch. He knew he was in for a long evening at that moment and even tried to shake Hagler's hand after the round. Hagler had ALL the tools: box, slug, combinations, all angles, long arms, foot movement...everything. He knew the ring and boxing inside out.
-
You couldn't stop Hagler with a sledge hammer.
-
The way Hagler absorbed that uppercut showed ,beyond doubt he took a shot better than anyone. There will never again be a blue collar champ like Marvelous who ducked no one and showed up to fight every minute of every round and had old school class.
