So we made the Volcano not only from paper mache, but glued it to become like plasitc, used special painting materials to seal it from water damage. For the class eruption the lava was red with little red rocks spewing out too (not just liquid bubbling). We added oceans (with waves) around the edges and cities (with glitter to look like lights) with roadways painted around.
Grade: A not A+
Why? The grass was painted (not feeling real to the touch) and the city lights could've been made to actually light up with batteries (like a hair glowbies sticking through). Overall cost for this project $30 and 2 weeks of work
Are we asking TOO much from the kids nowadays or is this a means to "transparently" make public education harder for people with less disposable income and less resources? It would also result in the children who get a lower grade for these projects to be less positive and more likely to constantly be in trouble in school (hence a means of kicking them out of the particular school and only keeping kids with HIGH grades).
