  • Fantastic reflection. I attended a talk by J. Harmer last week where he mentioned the current debate over this Dogme "view" of planning, organizing and executing English language instruction. I firmly believe teachers should embrace learner-centeredness both in ideas and action. At the core of Dogme we can find the concept of autonomy, which leads to self-esteem and respect both for the profession and the learner. Rodrigo Morosoli - Uruguay

  • A friend recommended me to you Scott as I'd told him I was getting dissatisfied with my 1-2-1 homestay courses - too much photocopying of text books and not enough personally-related to the student language. I work in isolation so rely on the internet a lot for teaching tips. Dogme and your A-Z emails a revelation for me.

    A-Z. Thanks, Nick Allison

  • Interesting as always. I am quite frustrated at times with materials overload in class. I try to free it up as much as possible but is not something my school would willingly take on. In the Korean private school system, parents want to see course books completed (every page). The perception being that if their children complete a set number of course books, then they are learning, which is not always the case.
