With full foreknowledge, what would possess the loving God to create his beloved in his image to somehow desire that which is the antithesis of their very essence by choosing death over life?
Were they not trained well as a loving parent would train their children to recognize the tricks awaiting them in a world full of cunningly deceitful talking serpents?
How can a rational mind come to faith against blatant implausibility: God's image choosing death in deference to it's core essence, life?
@Scornthene Why do you charge that the mind is being limited to one book? Christians assert that the bible is true, not that it is the only truth. As to relevance - do you think it has no relevance because it is old? That only makes sense if you think that modern Human beings have changed very much in the past few thousand years. What makes the bible such a good read is that every facet of Human life is in it. Love, war, greed, poetry, hate, romance and yes sex.
If the bible is an act of imagination, why limit the mind to only one book? One set of out dated principles that has no relevance in modern society. To call the exodus out of Egypt a triumph over slavery is false. They traded one tyrant for another. Just because they called it 'God' roughly YWH doesn't mean there was any real triumph. It is only a story of one people trying to prove they are better than their neighbors, which was typical of the ancient peoples of the Mesopotamia area.
Great Music! right in the zone of counterintuitive mixtures of dissonant chords and forward driven rythyms...almost prophetic in the sense that moses was leading Israel in a subversive journey toward freedom and hope against old and tired certitudes of the dominant powers of Pharaoh, this entire enterprise was brought about by the stimulated imaginations of the people of God to create an alternative community!
