Von Smith Sound Check

This is a never before seen video of my friend, Von Smith, in Oct 07 at a sound check for InConcert. InConcert is an annual fundraiser by Paul Papile and Howard Fine benefiting Project Angel Food in Los Angeles. This is not a rehearsal and Von is holding back. You've seen him sing this song before and he did it again at my request. For those of you unfamiliar with "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" you should know that the original Broadway version is WAY over the top. Von is staying true to that original version and purposely performs it this way.

Von is very sweet, sincere, and unassuming person No attitude whatsoever. He has an incredible 5 octave range and can sing anything he wants. Please Vote for him this Tuesday, Feb 3 2009 on American Idol!!

I think he's on his way back home. I talked to him on Thursday. He's tried. Record deals are tough to get because free music downloading has wiped them out. I know some labels are asking. A few Broadway shows are interested as well and even an independent movie producer. (I'm not Von's manager, or agent. Just a friend/advisor.)

I spoke to Von last night. Hes absolutely fine and relieved because the pressure was unbeleivably extreme. He's still here in Los Angeles, and I hope to have dinner with him before he leaves. American Idol usually doesn't find the best singer-just the best slave for 19 Entertainment. They get paid shockingly little, even the Top 10 get paid little for touring!

Let me know if there's anything you want to ask Von. I have lots of shorter video clips of him but I need to ask him before I post them.

You're very welcome! Unfortunately, A.I. has been more unfair this season than ever before with the new producers running the show. Only a few had any air time prior to audience voting. So voters have favorites before everyone has had a chance to sing. And the first to sing is ALWAYS at a disadvantage because there are always millions of people who tune in late and totally miss the 1st performance completely. After a two hour show, who's going to go back and watch the first singer?

god i have loved von on youtube for the last 3 years!!!! i have wanted him to do idol for so long and now im pissed that i ever wished that!! they were so cruel to him and confusing!!!! he should've just sang like VON!!! I can't wait to start listening to Walk Away again and watch Like A Star...I've really missed being able to see/watch those songs since he had to take them down...when can he put them up again?? Now I need an album!!!lol
