i have -5.50/-5.75. i was wondering if i should get 1.57 or the high index 1.61?
and im getting the "rayban style" glasses that looks like wayfarers.
any tips on which lens i should get at zenni optical?

thank you for this video! I just made my first zenni optical purchase and chose the no-added-cost 1.57 lenses, and IMMEDIATELY 2nd guessed myself. this video really reassured me that I made the right choice. (my prescription is "just" -4.75/-5).

i went to eyebuydirect, and it would not let me choose anything other than the 1.74! my perscription is only a little worse than yours, -8.5 in one and -8.25 in the other. how were you able to get the cheaper lenses? there is such a huge price difference and i only need another pair for backup, so i dont want to have to spend a fortune

do you have an old pair that you would donate for a great cause

I'D JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT I HOPE YOU REALIZE THAT POLYCARBONATE 1.67 HIGH INDEX IS NOT CORRECT. POLYCARBONATE ONLY COMES IN A 1.53 INDEX. POLY IS CONSIDERED A MID INDEX. AND INDEX 1.60 AND OVER IS CONSIDERED HIGH INDEX. THE INDEX IS THE SPEED AT WHICH LIGHT TRAVELS THROUGH THE LENS. THERE ARE VARIOUS OTHER THINGS THAT DETERMINE THE THICKNESS OF YOU LENS LIKE BASE CURVE AND BLANK SIZE SO PLEASE DO NOT GIVE OTHERS ADVICE ON THICKNESS OF LENSES WHEN CONSIDERING INDEX OF REFRACTION. BAD INFORMATION!

great video, very informative, really helped me in figuring out where to order glasses online from!

@brazenspider I would probably be getting black plastic frames. So hopefully it won't be very noticeable! Thanks.

Hello brazenspider. I had a question, and you look like a girl who would know the answer! I used an online lens thickness calculator, and for me my thickness was 2mm in middle and 3.7 on the edges. This is with standard cr39 lenses. Would you recommend paying for higher index, or will this look thin? 2nd question is what is your lens thickness on those glasses? thanks!

@terradactylclaw Hi! I just checked my blue bubbles glasses (1.67 high index lenses, 51-18-142 - 132mm width) and at the widest those lenses seem to be 5mm on the edges. What type of frames are you planning on getting? If you get plastic frames then the lenses will be less noticeable. In the video you can see how much the 5mm bubble lenses stick out past the frames. If you want metal frames definitely get the higher index lenses. My other glasses are in another location. Hope that helps!

Pablot138 - I'm not sure. I ordered the 1.74 lenses in frames that were too wide. I know that frames that are too wide shrink my face. I'd have to have the 1.74 and 1.67 lenses in similar size frames to be able to say. I'm not sure if the higher index lens distorts more or not. Sorry!

I meant to mention this in my video, but my prescription is -8 in my left eye and -8.25 in my right eye. That's what I referred to when I called my prescription "bad."
