Back again with another ION repair. This time we're looking at the cymbals. I fixed this unsure of how it would work back in May, and after a while I completely forgot I had repaired it because I haven't had a problem since. So recently my other cymbal starts acting up so I did it again and decided I should show people how. This one is actually very, very simple and if you are having problems with double/dropped hits and/or problems with breaking combo where you know you shouldn't, then you need to give this a shot. Epoxy is 5 bucks, a new cymbal is 50. Your choice.

  • Ok. This did not work for me. :s So im re-soldering the contacts.

  • @DigitalEXP1 This repair only works if the contacts are still intact. The plastic cover is really all you're getting rid of to prevent it from setting it off. You should be fine once you resolder your contacts.

  • after u put the epoxy on and everything do u put the plastic cover back over it??

  • No, the cover is what causes the double hits, and the epoxy holds it perfectly in place.

  • So how do I take the nut off with a screwdriver or epoxy? Obviously, I need more than just those tools...

  • My green cymbal double hits all the time, but it's not the cymbal, it's the connection. I know this because I switched the two cymbals and the green one still has the problem. I think it's just overly sensitive and when I hit it too close to the edge it vibrates and causes a double hit, regardless of which cymbal I use. Is there anyway to do a calibration on the ions?

  • Does it work with bubble gum?

  • @BootsMegamix

Yes the contacts were still intact. Cover was off. Mighty putty was on. But it was still dropping notes/double hits. What I found was, all slow notes on the yellow was fine. When i have a fast section, there was no way that it was going to hold a streak.

  • I am currently trying this fix. Waiting for the mighty putty to set. Tried the "tape" fix to no avail. I hope this works. :(

  • My friend, I don't know if you has the same problem, I don't find yet, I have the problem of almost wingnuts are broken in my Ion drum, I think will be great to someone talk about how fix them, if you have the same problem will be very nice you tell us how yoy fix
