Active Directory VB script to setup a printer and set to Default using Group Policy

Set WshNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network")
PrinterPath = "\\Server01.advnet.prv\201-HPLJ"
PrinterDriver = "HP LaserJet 4250 PS"
WshNetwork.AddWindowsPrinterConnection PrinterPath, PrinterDriver

  • You set the script by Group Policy, so you can set that as a Default Printer for an OU of users or an OU of computers. This should stay as the default printer for that user even if they change rooms as long as you set the group policy on that group of users.

  • nice script. pardon my ignorence but will the installed printer remain on that user now as the default printer? or will it switch if sunny changed rooms?
