  • The Marines still are better than the army, army rangers are the only thing that are close, regular army is pretty good still though

  • This is pretty silly. I was Army with Marines and I fit into the mix just fine.

There is a difference of their uses and they are both good at what they do and suffer when put into the others' place.

  • im looking at this MOS

  • Sorry, I meant that the us army taught the marines civil affairs, there was no civil affairs mission in the marines arsenal until it was taught to them by the us army.

  • Honestly, I'm in the National Guard now, and we have Marines who joined to continue serving. They always show us tactics that the Army manuals don't cover. Army training is based on doctrine, whereas the Marines train to a real standard of not only excellence but fighting reality.

  • angryamerican, of course you are correct, and I truly enjoyed my time in al-Anbar as an Army soldier attached to a Marine unit. (RCT 8) I can't tell you what a great team that was to be a member of. But I still understand the fact that they enjoy poking fun at each other.

Still, I myself, having bled with them, literally, as we all got hit by the same ambush, I will never join the the fun-poking again. (Except at the Army for abandoning the Marines with Army artillery at Chosin)

  • I didn't say the Army learned anything.

OK, so the Marines knew all these things without needing the Army's mistakes learn from. Sounds good to me.

I was just poking fun at the Army for tucking tail and running, then asking the Marines for the guns (abandoned by the Army) back after the front line Marines recovered and used them to break the Chinese siege.

Seriously, man, the Marines saved my life during an ambush in al-Anbar. I know they don't surrender. Thank you for serving.

  • If that's so, than why is the Army still leaving gear behind today? And surrendering has never been in the Marine doctrine. There is only 1 Marine unit that EVER surrendered and the Marine Corps took all their battle stripes away and almost disowned them.

  • How could one be better then the other? Both branches have different objectives. The Army is what? five times bigger then the Marines? And did you know the Marines will usually do a seven month tour in Iraq, meanwhile, the Army does 12-18 months. Big difference. Both have different objectives. You sound like a moron saying one is better then the other. It's not sports.

  • The Amy did too teach the Marines! At the Chosin Reservoir. And the marines learned their lesson well: Never surrender, and never leave gear behind for some one else to use against you!
