For pulling tires I like the harnesses sold by Dog Scooter. I especially like the urban trails harness. I guess I use the x-back mushing harness even more for tire pulling, though.

Well i agree with you about great communication. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that my dogs are able to live in the house with me and go with my in the car most places that I go. Plus they pull the wagon to the laundromat, the TrailDog to the Farmers Market, as well as the sulky, scooter and mountain bike. They even helped me haul bamboo poles to the trash pile.

The more you do pulling and other activities with your dogs, the better they listen and pull. Even taking off leash walks is better. They stick around better. Daphne Lewis

You need to be working him with tires. Ground training. Go for walks with him pulling the tire and as you approach say "on by" and as you pass say "pull" or whatever word you use and since you are leash walking him, you physically enforce the 'keep walking forward." Also be walking towards a TARGET, such as the best place to play ball.

Oh my, I think a way to do that is to teach them to pull the tires so that they get that "Pull" means "pull and keep walking". Put a prong collar on the dog and teach "On by". Start with walking by small distractions like a smelly trash can. Approach the trash can or whatever, and say 'On by". As you and the dog pulling the tire walk by, praise for walking on by the distraction. If the dog veers towards the distraction, a quick jerk and release of the prong collar enforces "On By". Practice!

Hello agility paws, yes a border collie can pull a sulky. However, most border collies are (I think) around 50 pounds. My 50 pound chinook can pull the sulky but my 70 pound chinook can do it more easily. If you have two border collies, that would be ideal. If you do have two, train them individually first. My female depends on my male. Training error.

This video was so helpful as I've been wanting to have my GSD pull a tire for exercise on our walks. I will get some old bicycle tires - great suggestion. What type of harness do you use? Your dogs have a similar build to mine.

@DaphneLewis sorry, was that the answer to my question? if it is then i do use a prong collar, but sometimes he doesn't respond or when he does ignore other dogs, he would still stop and look back at them after we passed them and i can't get him to more forward when that happen.

how do you make your dogs ignore other dogs? no matter how hard i train them, they would not ignore them. i trained them basic obedience everyday and it's not helping.
