Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine (red torii gate in the ocean)

Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine and it's magnificent red torii gate standing off the shore in the ocean. Absolutely gorgeous. My friend and I took a day trip here after visiting Hiroshima (Miyajima is only a ferry boat away). Definitely one of the more beautiful sights you can find in Japan.

I didn't know about the luck thing, but I do know they like red hair for sure....

I was at an airshow a couple years ago and these japanese tourists kept following me and separated into a few groups to get a picture with me (or in the case of the 3 japanese boys, like 5 pictures....yeah.) I don't really know what it is, but i find it very amusing.

People want your pictures because you have blonde hair. It's considered good luck (so I've heard) to touch golden colored hair.
