Wait, then what caused USAir to cut back its California service?

American Eagle does some of the intra-Californian services, competing with Southwest but using smaller planes.
JetBlue and Virgin America do some flights between the big cities, and there's supposed to be some E-Jet-flying upstart out of Carlsbad on the scene now.

Thanks for uploading! I enjoy watching air travel commercials from the 70s-90s
USAir(ways) dismantled the ex-PSA routes sadly. The same can be said about American Airlines with the ex-AirCal routes. Delta still has the Salt Lake City hub from Western Airlines and United is still a big presence in the West Coast.

@BrownBrother27 . . .True, shortly after those take-overs, those airlines battled it out for market share in a huge California fare war. Also, Southwest began its entry in to the California market, adding even more competition. Finally, after huge financial losses USAir and American retreated and most of the former PSA and AirCal routes were abandoned. Southwest and the new "Shuttle by United" picked up a lot of those routes and expanded their presence. United later pulled back somewhat.
