It's a good idea to make sure you know your phone's IMEI code, because it will help the police identify your phone if it's lost or stolen. You might also need it for insurance claims, or unlocking your phone. You can find it by dialling *#06# or looking on the side of the box your phone originally came in.

Stephen from Three's Security team also has some advice on recording the serial numbers for all your valuable gadgets at http://immobilise.com, an online database that the police can search to identify the owners of lost and stolen items.
