INXS ~ Pretty Vegas

"Pretty Vegas" was the first single released from Switch, the 11th studio album by the Australian rock band INXS. The single was released on November 29, 2005. It is the first album recorded with new lead singer J.D. Fortune, who won the Rock Star: INXS competition to succeed Michael Hutchence, the band's late lead singer.
The song was first released exclusively through iTunes Music Store on October 4, 2005 for two weeks. The song peaked at #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart on October 22, 2005. After the release of INXS' album Switch, the single was re-released and reached #7 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 Singles Chart.
In Canada, Pretty Vegas was one of the top singles of the year, going platinum and reaching number one on the chart.[1]The single was also somewhat of a comeback song in Australia, becoming their first ARIA top 10 single in 14 years, peaking at #9.
The song debuted on the show Rock Star: INXS during the time when Fortune was vying for the lead vocalist spot in INXS. The eight contestants were challenged to write lyrics to melody written by Andrew Farriss. They were divided into two teams of four. When Fortune did not see eye to eye with his team (which included runner-up Marty Casey), he decided to venture out on his own and write his own lyrics.
A few weeks after Fortune's win, the NBC drama Las Vegas chose "Pretty Vegas" as a promotional song for its upcoming season in 2005.
"Pretty Vegas" received gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on Jan. 26, 2006. [info courtesy: wikipedia.org]

@danaya1969 We all know that Michael was the founding member of INXS and his magick cannot be replaced,JD fortune is not trying to replace Michael he is an artist in his own right,and the existing members agree on this fact or INXS wouldnt still be performing under the same name otherwise.I would like to think if Michael was still alive hed be proud of JD's artistic flare in the band & wouldnt be at all resentful.

Setting the record straight: JD Fortune was never kicked out of INXS (for drugs or any other reason), but there had been a lack of communication between the two parties which has been resolved. JD and INXS played the Winter Olympics this year, and have done some private shows in the U.S. and Australia. JD has also been working on solo material and has recorded with other artists in L.A. He is doing well.
