Well you're right, but taking the arm above the whrist with two hands is foolish, imho. If I'm ordered to take one arm with my two hands I'd eventually take the hand to bring some hands kansetsu waza.
-
And remember, you need to learn it somehow before you can use it in a real situation.
Surely the technique alone is not enough but after you learned to execute it fast you can use it in a combination or sth.
-
But then he could control you with your other arm.
He could for example bring on a joint lock if hes fast enough.
-
I guess none, even the most miserable one, would grab your hand with his two, leaving your other one free. I would fight with the other one.
-
I agree, I wish that these joint locking applications could be shown in response to a real threat, like a punch or a kick, or like you mentioned, a grab or headlock.
In court, if the jury saw you dislocated a man's wrist and broke his jaw all for him grabbing you, you'd be the assailant, not the grabber!
-
You're are right, I can actually see that happening between a man and a woman (being dragged away etc..). In which case very good to learn. ...Less likely between two men though, punches with the other hand would start flying right away.
-
it's not that strange for someone way bigger than you to start agression that way, man. specially if the agressor is a man and the uke is a woman... :S man it has happened to me. :S
-
It's true that no one will grab you that way. But it's far from useless if you look at the bigger picture. These are basic moves which show you the way joints don't like to be bent. You can then adapt them to realistic situations like being held in a head lock or by the throat etc...
An excellent clip.
