This flythrough over The University of Calgary shows the successfull integration between LiDAR data and high resolution true-orthorectified aerial photographs.
This is part of my PhD research that involves integration of LiDAR, Photogrammetry, and GIS for improved realistic 3D visualization.
Well there is a number of sw used from point to point.
The Building DBM modelling was semi-automated using an extension that I developed using ArcObjects. The orthophoto was then generated using own developed program with the DTM + DBM as height source thus making the building boundaries crispier. I modelled somethings such as monuments and street furniture on sketchup, then joined everything on ArcScene (ArcGIS' 3D Analyst Extension).
Finally I used camtasia and/or windows movi maker to produce the final videos, adding the captions, music and stuff.
This is one of the best if not the best ArcScene animation I have seen, you put some hours into this one. Very nice work.

did you have to model all of that?

Brilliant work!
I can't begin to imagine how long that took to make
