INTRODUCTORY VIDEO. Please see this one before you watch any of the others. It explains deism and my general reasons for rejecting religion.

If we're to believe that the Creator wrote a book, shouldn't it contain an accurate understanding of how Creation operates?
@dasGagaTier I think that by defining purpose as being the end, you negate the process and experience involved which gives rise to the meaning of it.
Purpose is found in every life-form; hence why life seeks to remain alive by whatever means necessary. Since the end for everything living is ultimately death, then for what purpose would life serve to live in the first place?
Just some first thoughts.. though will bring it up on a deism forum to see what others think.

Do you think your deity has been round forever? Infinite powerful being an all that stuff.

@dasGagaTier (cont) So, an ultimate purpose is logically impossible. And accepting this is not the same as being indifferent. There is still the purpose that we give our own lives. Actually Buddhism, while striving to overcome suffering is completely agnostic to purpose. The desire to end suffering simply requires compassion.

@sacrednic It is not that I am not interested. However, the closer you look the concept looses meaning: A purpose is always defined by an end. E.g. in Christianity the purpose of life is to win eternal life, but then, what is the purpose of eternal life? Same with: What is the "purpose" of the Universe? What is the "purpose" of existence itself or of the deity you believe in? Can't you see that "purpose is a limited, human concept and applying it here is simply anthropomorphic?

@dasGagaTier You might not have any interest in the questions surrounding the purpose and origins of life, but there are many people who are .. and with huge amounts of money invested into various fields of science, philosophy and religion.
The consensus of the philosophy believed and accepted by the general public, will have an impact on society as a whole.

@sacrednic I cannot say anything about concepts such as "meaning" or "purpose" outside the context of human existence. My ability to identify and pursue certain goals such as reducing suffering in this world, fighting poverty and defending human rights does not depend on whether 13,4 Billion years ago this universe was brought into being by a concious agent. Either way I cannot see how this would make any difference to our lives.

@generosos87 they justify anything that their god says is permissible. That's what makes christianity so dangerous and inconsistent; because their god says one thing, but then does another .. the compass of morality continually changing in extremes depending on the age and circumstance.
I was referring to the acts which were carried out against the inhabitants of Cannan .. so that god's people could take the land for themselves.

@unomnacajit111 my claims are not "wrong" .. I'm stating what is written in the bible, including the book of Job you mentioned. God killed innocent people, including children and animals, and even his very own people (ie Job's kids) .. and all for the sake of testing a single man? That is madness.
"Death is not a bad thing" .. well no it isn't .. but murder is!

@unomnacajit111 Of course I have evidence that hitler existed, and of course you are real and not a robot, your making a very poor analogy there. Saying that god meant for moses to write forces rather than pilars requires more evidence than simply saying, "If you replace pillars with forces it makes much more sense" which is basically all your saying. I'm finished with this, let us respectfully agree to disagree and leave it alone, are you ok with that?
