Rabin plays A.Glazunov violin concerto in A minor I.
To me Rabin was the greatest violinist ever recorded, he had the best staccato I have ever heard. He always had the ability to blow your heard off with chops then turn around and make you melt with his romantic vibrato and lush tone, just close your eyes and listen for yourself.

This is a radio broadcast that has never been released by any record company and has never been for sale at any time. I created a group at yahoo around 2000 for Michael Rabin because I wanted to know more about his life because I have always been in awe of his sound, a few years ago someone sent a whole ton of unreleased stuff to me performed by Rabin that has never been released. If you like this go out and buy the studio recording of him playing the Glazunov, it's insanely good and well worth the money.

For more info, photos, discussion, etc on Rabin visit my yahoo club at

I have uploaded rare out of print and unreleased recordings that are difficult to find, I hope you like them.

Since they are so difficult to find no one should mind me uploading them, if you have issues with me uploading them please send me a message and I will remove them.

  • I agree! Something about this interpretation makes it very profound.

  • Rabin's interpretation is magical and unique!!!!!

  • There is a commercial recording of Rabin playing this with the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Which orchestra and conductor are on this broadcast?

  • His second recording of the Paganini Concerto is alot like Francescati's in timing.

  • It soars! TY for violin playing at it's best!

  • I grew up listening to Michael Rabin daily -- basically only had one record, but it was well listened to .... "The Magic Bow" if anyone remembers ..... He is truly most amazing!

  • This is just really great.

  • This recording and the Bruch Scottish Fantasy recorded by Rabin are the onlt 2 recordings of these pieces that don't sound like the violinist is trying to copy Jascha Heifetz...

  • Prince of the Violin, and the Genius of the Violin it self!!!!

  • The greatest of them all, he died too young. His teacher said his playing had "no flaws."
