This news might bring a temporary halt to excitement of all those middle, upper middle and high-income group Mumbaikars, who were eagerly waiting for the MHADA houses to come in. MHADA has planned to come up with nearly 3,357 houses, but of this more than 2,962 houses are reserved for the Economically weaker section (EWS) and the Lower Income Group (LIG). Whereas the rest 395 houses remain for the MIG and HIG and out of this 166 HIG houses are in Versova, 28 HIG flats in Ghatkopar, 56 in Dahisar and 11 in Pratiksha Nagar, Sion.
According to Amarjeet Singh Manhas, chairman, Mumbai MHADA board, there is more demand for the EWS and LIG houses hence in this lottery there wont be many MIG or HIG houses. The demand for MHADA flat is more from the lower segments and hence the houses for this segment is more. In the last lottery we had more than 1 lakh buyers from the lower groups, said Manhas.
