Taking some two years (2009-2011) and 560 hours to complete, this commission is finally done!
All these illustrations are part of a brochure produced by the Friends of the Australian National Botanic Gardens. Brochures are now available from the Visitors Centre at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.
The brochure shows the most commonly seen species seen at the Gardens, along with their typical habitats and flora.
With the exception of the cover, the birds are painted in miniature, between 2 and 12cm in length. Bird are NOT to scale. Most of the images on the video look much larger than what they were painted in "real life". (The original Wood Duck ducklings' bodies are only 1cm by 1cm!)
There was a tremendous amount of research, long lonely hours spent crouching over, creating new techniques, bleary eyes and sheer hard work to get this done, but I'm thrilled with the response received so far!
SPECTACULAR! how do you do it! :)

@DiamondApple100 Thanks for the compliment! It's done with a tiny paintbrush, bucketloads of patience and years of practice! Three of the five panels were done with the naked eye, then I discovered the benefits of reading glasses. Makes the close-up work so much easier! :)
