Vafa Animal Shelter - Iranian Dogs - Visit us on http://www.cal.ir

Founded in 2004, the Vafa Animal Shelter is the first and currently the only animal shelter in Iran. We are dedicated to providing help and shelter to injured and homeless animals in Iran. The Vafa shelter is a non-government charity organization relying solely on private donations and volunteers.

We are located in the town of Hashtgerd, about an hour and a half west of Tehran on the road to Ghazvin.

The Vafa Animal Shelter was put together with the hard work of Fatemeh Motamedi (fatemehmotamedi@hotmail.com) , who has a deep love for animals of all shapes and sizes, and who donated her land and organized the building of the shelter with her own funds.

At present, the shelter is run by a group of devoted volunteers and caring veterinarians who donate much of their services. The shelter is currently (in 2010) home to over 400 dogs.

Now I removed it accidentally, so here I go again - Golpar lives in Puerto Rico and is enjoying life on a 1 hectare property with a lot of green. She can be seen in the video at 56 seconds and is the 3legged dog. She is a very intelligent and gentle animal.
