This is a hail, thunder & lightning storm my wife & I got caught in on Mt Evans at 14,000ft above the treeline. All of the people we ran into were just doing sections of the trail, we still had to hike 8 miles down. This was our first 14er, 18 miles total with a 5,000ft elevation gain.

  • Did you mean the overhang protected you from the lightning? I think you should thank your Creator the lightning didn't hit that mountain where you stood, and then go get a copy of "Shattered Air."

  • @1969hwrq No, it just protected us from the hail. We were praying, trust me. Love reading, I'll get the book. Did you hear about the Grand Teton: "Rangers stage a daring helicopter rescue off the Grand after lightning strikes 17 climbers, killing one"
