The Freecycle moderator in San Antonio uses the email addresses of members to spam solicitations for other causes. One link had FOX news clips. I complained, even forwarded the offending spam to the org, but no action was taken.

Apparently you don't understand what nonprofit means. People can make salaries to run nonprofits, but there is no corporation that makes a profit, has stock, etc. If it requires people to maintain it, then it does - that's not a bad thing.

As a Freecycle mod/group admin myself, I'd just like to say that not every group is run by inept item-hogging people. Our local group is run fairly and you can't tar every group with the same brush.

Yes, I've requested items, but I always post the message on the main board first and then apply just like everyone else. Sometimes I'm lucky, most of the time I'm not. I also expect every moderator to do the same, anyone found abusing the system has their moderator status removed.

As a Freecycle mod/group admin myself I'd like to point out that not every group is run by inept item hogging people. Myself and the moderators of my local group are fair and reasonable to all members.

If an item I wouldn't mind comes up, I post the item on the main board and then apply for it just like everyone else. Sometimes I'm lucky, most of the time I'm not.

Freecycle sucks period. Moderators spy out the good stuff and hold the posts until they or their buddies can cherry pick what they want. I used to belong to the Buffalo NY freecycle group. I wanted to give stuff to people who needed if not a bunch a dirt bags looking for freebies. I now donate to my favorite local church instead.

Do something for your own community as piss on freecycle.

Freecycle was not Deron's idea. They keep saying they need money but if everything and everyone is free then what are they spending the money on? How can one get away with posting personal information on myself and others and yet she can still run a freecycle group? How is it that Deron spent money on how to say freecycle? It just comes down to too many questions. I NEVER said the CONCEPT of freecycle was bad but mearly for the questions that have no answers!

This strikes me as a disgruntled user of Freecycle. On of the ungrateful few that spoil it for everyone. So what if the owner of the freecycle network draws a salary...i ask you if you had a trademark and business idea that had global interest and a huge following, and it has taken you years to achieve this, wouldn't you draw some kind of salary form it?? Good luck to the bloke, freecycle is brilliant, the forums and the people are great as well.
