Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link - All Bosses, Part 1 of 2 (DVD Capture Version).

This is a rundown of all the boss fights in Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link.

The boss title picture screens were all captured and edited by myself using a Zelda II ROM image and emulator (And since I have both the Discovery & History Channels, and I've seen their prison documentaries, I won't mention anything else on which software was used to do all this :) ).

Some key notes to remember:

0:04 - 0:08: Title screen with all the bosses. There is the obvious Game Over Ganon just to the right of Link's sword (Which scared the $h!t out of me when I was little because I though that marked Link's grave!), but you don't fight a Ganon that looks like that. Can you spot the Ganon that you fight at the end? Make a video response and tell me if you do!

0:10 - 0:14: I decided to use the Zelda: Collector's Edition GameCube disc for the DVD version of the capture because I couldn't find all my old original NES gear :'( . I hate using the GameCube controller for classic NES games because the joystick is too sensitive and the cross pad is too uncomfortable. That's the only thing I hate about the GC controller.

0:15 - 1:23: I hate the re-released "corrections." Looking at this for the first time was like watching the Episode IV "Special Edition" DVD and watching in horror as Greedo shot first. Come on, Nintendo; we love the original "Engrish"; it's what made Classic Nintendo classic.

1:23 - 2:14: The way I had my recording equipment set up, there was actually about a half-second delay in my actions. This makes a simple boss like Horsehead one mean SOB when you don't have real-time controller re-action! I still managed to somehow time the "key catch" just right, which gave me a little dignity back.

2:14 - 2:16: More evidence of the messed up timing. I completely chucked up climbing the steps, which takes away from my earlier key catching trick. Even my brother called me out on that one, but he's an ass, so he doesn't count :-P .

2:31 - 2:54: I managed to re-route my equipment to still be able to record the game and give myself real-time movement -- I take out my anger on Helmethead!

2:55 - 3:01: I started a brand new game for this. Sometimes it gets annoying as far as fluidity is concerned and will actually come back to bite me in Part 2. I'll let you know where in that video it comes back to haunt me.

3:02 - 6:15: Just some random boss @$$ kicking. If you look closely, sometimes when I jump you'll see the upward thrust. Thanks, GameCube controller...

6:16 - 6:21: Aerial assault!! And a key catch at the end! Very cool.

6:22- 7:01: Some more boss @$$ kicking.

7:02 - 7:12: Nothing like an epic 10-second fight to get ready for...

7:25 - 7:30: BARBA! This was my absolute favorite screen to make! My dad woke me up late one night and said to, and I quote, "Look real close at the screen. It's small, but if you get right up to the TV, you can see it." And we all know how Barba makes his appearance, don't we? That's some scary shiz when you're 5-6 years old! My dad is an ass; it must be where my little brother gets it from.

8:39 - 9:23: The best part of the Part 1 video. Enjoy.

  • isnt that a sub boss whe you have to fight that iron knuckle on the horse again

  • @tz198204 Yes. And again before reaching Barba. I figured I'd go ahead and include those 2 sub-bosses in order to round out the video.
