Hmm.... you wont be a good drawer from simply copying what he has already made. Drawing realistically just takes practice and concentration. To draw good you must be able to see well. Drawing a desk, dont draw a desk. Draw the vertical lines that built the frame, horizontal lines that hold papers. It takes vision and coordination. Drawing isnt a given ability, it takes work.
One positive, great drawings come from doodling. Great art come from great ideas.
