@skip328 Well put....and the older I get, the more his stuff makes sense to me...when I was 11 and Born in the USA came out, I loved it, wore out the tape...and I remember rock radio played the crap out of his old stuff, the b sides, you name it. And I loved it all...but now at nearly 40, his songs take on a whole new level of meaning for me...

Heart warming and heart breaking at the same time. If you don't get it, listen better.

@treatmentbound.... it was Oct 13th, 1980.. the show was the day before my 17th birthday. It is still the concert by which I judge every other concert I've ever seen..... it was beyond great, and probably why I have a man crush on him to this day.

@srshores I saw that same show in St. Paul. I think it was around Nov. 10 (don't have my ticket stub anymore), but I think "The River" was released that same day. Please verify the exact date if you can.
Thanks

When I was 18 - I had virtually nothing - no home - sick single mother - just a summer union job and a track scholarship to school and lots of hope and promise. Oh, and I had a guy like Springsteen creating music as if he was singing to me.Running 10 miles each night after the union gig, you better darn well believe I wanted the redemption to which this song speaks.30 years on, I guess I have both redemption and a lot material comforts, but the promised lies back when I had nothing but a dream.

@gatsby999888 I was under the impression that Bruce fans all had class. You are either the exception to that rule, or not a Bruce fan. You are obviously a tool.
I remember this tour, I saw it at the St. Paul Civic Center. My mom stood in line to get me tickets for my 17th birthday. My mom died away two years later.. It will always stand as one of the greatest nights ever. I'm almost 48 now, and this video just made me feel just about every emotion... joy, pain, sadness, love, and the list is endless... thanks mom, and thanks Bruce for a memory that still resonates almost 31 years later
