  • Republicans are so ridiculous. They use excuses like that our grandchildren will have to deal with the debt. Well the last time the national debt was balanced was in 1837. With the debt that were in already excluding Obamas stimulus plan, It will still take our Grandchildren to deal with it.

The motor companies and the banks bail out plan never took this much heat and division. We already know how that money was spent. When its the peoples turn, They will fight you for every dime. This is sad.

  • Republicans all of sudden have a problem spending money when its going to something besides a war or a tax cut.

  • Hey Lindsey Graham, why are you just now speaking out about a problem that had its root beginnings 7 almost years ago?

  • Really? Well, Mr. Cheney, I think you owe a little payback to the taxpayers whom you have bilked to bankruptcy these past 8 years. Don't you?

  • Umm according to your 1/4 estimation, then everyone would have to pay $40 bucks a year. That's not unreasonable. Besides, it's not so much an economic stimulation as it is a 'down payment on America's future.' Don't you want to see an improvement in america's infrastructure, renewable energy, more efficient federal buildings and everything else that's included in the bill?

Who are you to assume that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is going to fail at saving american jobs?

  • I heard that this stimulas pkg. was so big that there was enough money for every man woman and child in the country to have 2,700 dollars. It would be better to give it to the american people than to give it to people that already have money. Like hollywood people that helped you get elected.Just try it give me my money. I think i could buy a bunch of stuff with 2,700 dollars

  • 300 million people, but less than 1/4 of that PAY any Federal income taxes at all. Better check your figures again.

You CAN'T "stimulate" the economy by spending BILLIONS on VOTE-BUYING dollars.

  • Giving 20,000$ to the American Public still wont solve the job-loss situation going on...Public spending alone wont fix the problem

  • OBAMA SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE ECONOMY AND I"LL PROBABLY SPEND a little i never made more money than now at any time but not spending

  • There's 300 million people in the united states, right? if we payed 10 extra bucks (for each person) in taxes once a year, we'd have payed back the 850 billion dollars and more before baracks first term was over. Since the economic problems are unprecedented, there's no guarantee that any plan is going to immediately reverse the downward spiral effect, but it sure makes sense to at least TRY SOMETHING. i think the money should be spent by local governments to improve cities and towns, schools et

  • If you gave most of the people in this country $20,000, the majority of it would be put toward credit card bills and paying down debt. Student loans. Medical bills. That money wouldn't be directly (or even indirectly) injected into the economy.

Can you honestly saying you'd be spending your $20,000 on a new car (American-made, of course)?
