The regions stock of low-sulphur coal is in high demand. According to the mining companies the only viable way to get at that coal is to remove the mountain from the coal rather than the coal from the mountain.

Come to our job and try the things you did at Massey. I'll personally wipe the beautiful mountain clean with your sorry hippy ass. You get on here and post video, you suck power worse than a factory yet you try to stop coal. Provide me a job that pays 20 dollars an hour and I'll gladly park up my equipment. Its easy for a hippy from out of state to come here and tell us how to live and what to do with OUR mountains. Not yours since most of you are not from this area and have no clue about it

Amen!!! I've lived near the mountains for my entire life, and the sight of so much irreparable destruction absolutely sickens me, there is absolutely no need for this kind of thing anymore.

Makes me happy as hell that Obama wants to bankrupt the Coal Industry here in the US, although he's for clean coal. I hate these Coal and mining companies that destroy our mountains and forests just to get their dirty little hands on coal and other materials. I live in Temecula, California where our nearby Santa Ana Mountains and Santa Margarita River face danger from a Granite company that wants to mine here. Air and water pollution, heavy truck traffic is all that will come of this. I say NO.
